Holidays in Skanes takes the lucky tourist to a beautiful resort suburb in the port town of Monastir in the Tunisian Mediterranean. Skanes is famous for its stunning and seemingly never ending sandy beach, as well as the extravagant hotels, spread out along the coast line, which is set in acres of verdant gardens and comes with their own little private stretch of beach too. While Monastir has become very much a tourist town, it also retains the aura of historical significance as once being one of the holiest places in all of Tunisia. Its rebuilt old Ribat fort has become famous since its use in blockbuster movies such as the first Indiana Jones picture “Raiders of the Lost Ark”.

Skanes and Monastir are almost shameless in the extent to which they have become marketed toward holidaymakers, particularly those emanating from the United Kingdom. There are plenty of activities for adult tourists, though on the downside there is very little for very young children to do other than enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches. Adults and older children such as teenagers, however, will probably find plenty to keep them occupied and entertained while on their Skanes holidays. Skanes is connected by public transport to both Monastir and other nearby resort towns, so travelling further afield should not be a problem for those keen to explore.
