Accommodations

General features
With nearly 20 kilometres of beaches stuffed with hotels of all sizes and price ranges, it is definitely not difficult to find accommodation on your Hurghada holidays. You are in fact spoilt for choice. There is everything from Luxury 5-star resorts to budget guesthouses and virtually every other choice you can think of in between. There are also many holiday houses available for rent, owned by Europeans who rent them out when not in use.

Hotels and Package Holidays
Many of the hotels are in fact resorts specialising in all-inclusive holiday packages sold by overseas tour operators. These packages often include full board, but there are also half-board and room-only options available. If your main aim is to relax on the beach and not have to worry about finding lunch or dinner, such a package is the ideal option for you. You will no doubt be able to stay in a better quality place than if you went on your own and everything will be arranged on your behalf by the holiday operators.

Many of these package holidays include trips to the coral reef islands, camel trips into the desert and some even include side trips to Luxor and/or Cairo. The latter will of course be more expensive, but then you do not have to worry about transport or booking tours locally.

Main Resorts
A few of the well-known mid-price resorts that you may find on Hurghada holidays include the Sonesta Pharaoh Beach Resort, the Sunrise Holidays Resort, the Sunrise Chrystal Bay Resort, the Sea Star Blue Rivage, and the Giftun Beach Resort. If money is not a concern, the Oberoi will no doubt be a good choice.

Food and Drink
As mentioned before, many of the all-inclusive holidays include all meals. If your resort has a choice of restaurants, or you just cannot be bothered to hunt for a nice restaurant, this is a great option. If you want to explore the local cuisine, however, you should definitely opt for a choice that allows you to eat at least one meal per day at a local restaurant.

Hurghada has an unbelievable range of restaurants for its size. Whether you want to experience traditional Egyptian food, or enjoy French cuisine, you will find what you are looking for. The newly built Marina offers stunning views of the Red Sea and a selection of 15 luxury restaurants where you can enjoy cuisine from around the world; whether you want Sushi, Thai food, continental food or plain old fish and chips, you will find it there.

With so many Western tourists, Hurghada holidays cannot afford to be too conservative. It is therefore not difficult to get your hands on an alcoholic drink if that is what you want. Most hotels and all bars sell alcohol. Non-alcoholic drinks on offer include your usual sodas and juices, as well as Egyptian favourites such as tea, karkadeh, sahlab, gansabeel, yansoon and many others.
