Gran Canaria is warm and the sun shines throughout the year, with little rainfall, except in the slightly cooler winter season. The summers are very hot and humid, perfect for relaxing at the beach. The mountains in the centre of the island give protection to the southern coastline from wind, so despite there being little temperature difference between the north and south, this makes the south a slightly warmer choice than the north.

The best time for a Gran Canaria holiday is between May and November. The peak temperatures are between August and October when the average is around 26 degrees Celsius.
