Egypt Holidays - Weather

Sunny All Year Round
The weather in Egypt is generally hot and sunny with little rain. The best time to visit is from October to April as the temperatures tend to be lower. Egypt is a good destination for winter sun. The hottest time of the year is June to September, with the hottest temperatures in July and August. The ancient sites are located in the desert where temperatures will be higher; thus visitors to Luxor or Aswan between May and October are advised to avoid the midday heat and to view the sites in early morning. Temperatures in the Red Sea resorts are similar to those for Aswan, but slightly warmer in the winter and slightly cooler in summer. June through September is the best time to visit as it is less crowded; the waters are warm and there are cooling breezes. October to April is the best time for Nile cruises, and those visiting the Western Desert should go from October to February.

Mild Winters
The winter months of November to February are mild, although temperatures can drop to as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures in Cairo range from 64 – 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures in Aswan range from 73 – 88 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hot Summers
In the summer temperatures in Cairo can rise to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures in Cairo range from 75 – 97 (peaking in July) degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures in Aswan range from 88 – 107 (peaking in June) degrees Fahrenheit.
