Costa Dorada Holidays

Things to do

The Costa Dorada offers a number of exciting places to visit and things to do along the coastline and inland as well. The theme parks and water parks in the area provide a fabulous time for families holidaying in Costa Dorada. The first of these is the PortAventura Park in Salou. Previously part of the Universal theme parks, it includes water rides and roller coasters as well as several restaurants and shops in the area. Meanwhile the Aquapolis water park at La Pineda, just outside Salou, with fantastic waterslides as well as mini golf, river rapids and a small water pool area for the kids, is ideal for a family holiday in the Costa Dorada.

Beaches
As a top coastal destination, beaches are a popular attraction on a holiday in the Costa Dorada. With beaches stretching the whole way along the coast from Barcelona to Tarragona, there is something wherever you decide to stay at Costa Dorada. One of the most popular of these, is the Platja Capellans in Salou. A fairly compact beach, it has a number of facilities including a Red Cross centre and is a beautiful setting for your holiday in Costa Dorada. Three other popular beaches in Salou are Llevant beach; Ponent beach and the Cala de la Font beach, all offering beautiful coastlines, warm sand and the pretty azure sea.

Culture
For those who enjoy a look at some cultural and historical attractions, a holiday in the Costa Dorada offers plenty of these opportunities. Tarragona is host to the Museu Nacional Arqueologic de Tarragona, also known as the Archaeology Museum. It is a world heritage site that offers tunnels for the kids to explore as well as a mini train that takes you round the town. It also has a stunning view of the town of Tarragona and view of the amphitheatre. The amphitheatre itself is another historical site to visit right on the seafront. Comprising of pretty ancient Roman ruins and set in a stunning location, along with the cathedral in Tarragona, these are perfect sites to visit to add some culture to your holiday in the Costa Dorada. Tarragona also offers the Museu Necropolis and the Passeig Arqueologic.

Dining and Nightlife
The Costa Dorada also offers fine Catalonian dining. Between the restaurants in Cambrils and some fabulous restaurants in Barcelona, there is something for everyone on a Costa Dorada holiday. Sitges, along with Barcelona, is a trendy town with museums, carnivals and a great nightlife. Meanwhile, taking a trip inland will reveal some beautiful Catalonia countryside with farmlands, vineyards and orchards set in gorgeous villages.
