Things to do
Exploring Ancient Ruins
A major reason why so many people come to this region is to explore the history that lies throughout it. One of the best places to go to where you could start learning about this region’s history is the Castillo de Santa Bárbara. You will see the castle from the beaches of Costa Blanca, towering over Alicante. These ruins were originally built by the Carthaginians, but were later used extensively by the Romans and then by the Moors. You will see that the moats and drawbridges of the castle have been preserved. For an interesting addition to your Costa Blanca holidays, be sure to tour the interior where you will find tunnels, fortresses and dungeons. These structures are truly an impressive sight.
Holidays on the Beach
Your vacation would be incomplete if you were not able to capture the vast beauty of the beaches. There are several beaches in the area, but the main attraction is the Valencia Beach, a large, open area where tourists frequently gather. Another attraction is the Denia Beach, which is about 20 kilometres along the coastline and located north of the larger town region. The Denia Beach is popular for its shallow water. The beaches in Javea are also popular amongst tourists, but have become more commercial than other areas. Here, you will find bars and restaurants that are mostly enjoyed by the younger crowd.
Playing in the Sun
There are plenty of ways to enjoy the sun on Costa Blanca holidays. A good way to start is to participate in water sports. Travellers can enjoy sailing here, as there are several marinas in the area offering boats and yachts for hire. You will also enjoy a visit to Terra Mitica, which is located in Benidorm. This is the largest theme park in the country. It offers a variety of fun shows, rides and shops for the entire family. Kayaking and snorkelling are popular in Costa Blance, with many guides to will help beginners. Conquer your fear by taking a helicopter flight over the region or by riding in a hot-air balloon to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Tourists can book any of these attractions through their accommodation or find providers on the beach or in the city – however, do be careful to check the details of any excursions before you buy.
